UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday voiced concern over an alleged Israeli air raid on the Aleppo airport in Syria.
"The secretary-general is concerned about the reported strikes on Aleppo International Airport. Those resulted in material damage and airport closure, including the cancellation of one UN Humanitarian Air Service flight," said Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for Guterres. (UN-Syria-Airport)

WASHINGTON -- Five cars of a freight train derailed in Ayer of the U.S. state of Massachusetts on Thursday.
The Ayer Fire Department said emergency crews responded to a report of a train derailment shortly before Thursday noon.

LOS ANGELES -- Researchers observing with NASA's James Webb Space Telescope have pinpointed silicate cloud features in a distant planet's atmosphere, according to the agency.
Cataloged as VHS 1256 b, the planet is about 40 light-years away and orbits two stars over a 10,000-year period, NASA said on Wednesday. (NASA-Webb telescope-Remote planet)

LOS ANGELES -- The U.S. state of California continues to be battered by violent weather as its Los Angeles area was hit by a rare tornado on Wednesday, the strongest one to impact the LA Metro area since March 1983.
The tornado "briefly touched down" in an industrial park and warehouse district in the city of Montebello in the late morning hours of Wednesday, according to the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS). (U.S.-California-intense weather)
