ISLAMABAD -- Four people including a policeman were killed and 26 others injured in a suicide attack in Quetta, capital of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Wednesday, the provincial health department said.

The other deceased including two kids and their mother, and the injured people were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta, the media coordinator of the department of health, Waseem Baig told Xinhua. (Pakistan-Blast)

KHARTOUM -- The total number of suspected dengue fever cases in Sudan has exceeded 4,000 as the African country is struggling to battle one of its worst dengue fever outbreaks in years, the Sundanese health ministry said.

"There are 4,104 suspected cases of dengue fever, including 516 confirmed cases and 29 deaths," the ministry said in a report released on Tuesday, adding the infectious disease has spread in nine Sudanese states. (Sudan-Dengue-Outbreaks)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN General Assembly President Csaba Korosi on Wednesday called for action as the goal to end AIDS by 2030 is "badly off track."

In a message for World AIDS Day, which falls on Dec. 1, Korosi said the goal to end AIDS by 2030 is badly off track, as "inequalities, discrimination, and disregard for human rights are hampering our progress." (UN-AIDS-Korosi)

STOCKHOLM -- An outbreak of Salmonella Mbandaka ST413 that has been evolving in seven European Union/European Economic Area countries, the United Kingdom (UK) and Israel has probable links to the consumption of chicken meat, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said on Wednesday.

"Based on case interviews from Finland and the UK, ready-to-eat chicken products and/or fresh chicken meat (such as those used in sandwiches and wraps) are the likely vehicles of infection," the ECDC said in a press release. (Sweden-ECDC-Salmonella)
