JERUSALEM, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Israel has revoked 200 permits for Palestinians in Gaza to work in Israel after a worker was accused of planning to perpetrate a bombing attack, the Shin Bet internal security agency said Thursday in a statement.

The Shin Bet said that the suspect was identified as a 31-year-old resident of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip, who was arrested on Oct. 30.

In his interrogation, he confessed that he was sent by the Islamic Jihad, an armed Palestinian group, to put an explosive device on an Israeli bus in southern Israel, according to the Shin Bet.

He was trained on preparing improvised explosive devices by an explosives expert in the Gaza Strip, and began operating to collect materials for the assembly of a bomb during his entries to Israel, the Shin Bet said, adding that the materials were seized during his arrest.

Following the incident, the Shin Bet said it was decided to cancel 200 permits of Gazan workers who have militant family members.
