JERUSALEM, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- EuroLeague club Maccabi Tel Aviv advanced to the Israeli League Cup final after a 97-91 win over Israeli champions Hapoel Holon in the semifinals on Thursday evening.

Maccabi Tel Aviv dominated the first quarter, taking a 27-19 lead, and widened the gap to 52-40 at halftime, thanks to points by Wade Baldwin and rebounds by Alex Poythress.

Bonzie Colson and Poythress ran Maccabi to 61-40 in the 23rd minute and 79-54 in the 29th minute, before the third quarter ended 79-61.

Joe Ragland and Niv Misgav inspired Holon to cut the deficit to 93-89 with 1:03 minutes to go, but decisive moves by Baldwin secured the win for Maccabi.

In the final game on October 23, Maccabi will face city rivals Hapoel Tel Aviv, who beat Hapoel Jerusalem 76-71 the evening before. Both semifinals took place at the Enerbox Hall in the coastal city of Hadera.

Poythress registered 17 points and 11 rebounds for Tel Aviv. Baldwin, Josh Nebo and Rafi Menco scored 14 points each, while Lorenzo Brown finished with 13 points and 12 assists.

Ragland scored a game-high 24 points and added eight assists for Holon, while his teammate Marvin Jones scored 17 points.

Maccabi Tel Aviv will start their EuroLeague season with a home game against Zalgiris Kaunas on October 6.
