JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid pledged support for the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during his Thursday address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

ANKARA -- The Turkish central bank on Thursday cut its benchmark rate for the second month in a row from 13 percent to 12 percent despite inflation running at a two-decade high.

Financial conditions remain supportive to preserve the growth momentum in industrial production and the positive trend in employment in a period of increasing uncertainties regarding global growth as well as escalating geopolitical risk, the central bank's Monetary Policy Committee said in a statement. ANKARA -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that Russia and Ukraine had exchanged 200 prisoners of war under the mediation of Türkiye.

"As a result of diplomatic traffic I conducted with Mr. (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and Mr. (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelensky, the exchange of 200 war prisoners between Russia and Ukraine was accomplished today (Sept. 22)," he told journalists on the presidential plane on his way back to Türkiye after attending the UN General Assembly in New York. JERUSALEM -- Israel said on Thursday that it will grant more permits to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, in a move to ease some restrictions on the impoverished coastal enclave.

Further 1,500 people from overcrowded Gaza would be allowed to cross into Israel for work and commerce purposes, the office of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Israel's military liaison to the Palestinians, said in a statement. (Israel-Gaza-Work Permits)
