BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.4 percent to 3,606.75 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.7 percent higher at 15,628.73 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.11 trillion yuan (about 171.8 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.09 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to nucleic acid testing and tobacco led the gains, while shares in cloud games reported sharp losses.
The Chinese mainland on Thursday reported 103 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 94 locally transmitted cases and nine arriving from outside the mainland, the National Health Commission said on Friday.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of fast-growing enterprises, gained 2.27 percent to close at 3,358.24 points.
