Israeli soldier jailed for refusing to serve in Gaza

An Israeli soldier has been jailed for refusing to take part in the army's offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The unnamed soldier refused because of the civilian deaths resulting from the 17-day incursion.
He has been jailed for fourteen days after being charged with, and convicted for, refusing to obey orders.
A number of reservists are believed to be considering not participating in the war after being called up in recent days.
Some have reportedly come to arrangements with their commanders, exempting them from combat duty.
Reservists have been sent into the Hamas-controlled territoryof Gaza in recent days to bolster some ten thousand troops already serving there. A senior general with the Israeli army wrote a message to the newcomers earlier this week. "Reservists had a critical role in all of Israel's wars and, this time as well, they demonstrated responsibility, loyalty and fraternity with their brothers in regular combat," he said.
"Together we will meet the objective that was given to us, knowing that Israel's security is in our hands. Israel's enemies will know that, at any time, the IDF is ready and willing to meet its objective of protecting Israel and its citizens," he wrote.
Meantime Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday demanded Hamas and Israel end the violence, and observe the recently passed UN resolution calling for a ceasefire.
"The fighting must stop. To both sides, I say, just stop now. Too many people have died," he said.
"We have a Security Council resolution demanding an immediate and enduring ceasefire. This resolution must be observed," he said.

That is a good choice to refuse to kill innocent childrens old people and women.Theey are not stupid to die in ammbushes and land mines.ANd they are Really 100%DEMOCRATIC ZITICENs.

Reservists pay is very good and all you have to do is volunteer. He wants the money BUT wont take orders. Hey, Chevas what about the missiles which have rained on Israel for 12 months are they not targeting women and children??

I think they’re trying to say: “We’re not like them.", and that should be applauded. Its good to know that there are Israelis who do not want to take part in the murder of innocent people.

So what, one soldier refuses to serve. Big deal. Why is Israel Herald turning this into relevent news? It’s highly doubtful this soldier refused for “moral” reasons -it’s immoral NOT to fight terrorism. Cowardice is the most likely reason why this soldier is in jail instead of on the field. Maybe he BELONGS in Gaza with the rest of the cowards - Hamas - cowering behind their children while they launch rockets at Israel. Not to fight this odious Gaza scum is the ultimate act of cowardice.

Sissy Israelis, always whinning about how rockets are being sent to them. Thats nothing compared to what Israel has done to the Palistinians since day one. Incredible how selective Israel’s memory is in this war. This lame excuse they keep using to rationalize their war keeps coming up as if its valid, when in reality its a joke. Israel asked for the rockets by being the aggressors in the first place. Then Israel calls anyone who doesn’t agree with their aggression a terrorist. I applaud this soldier, he has a mind to think and cant be made to go to war against his beliefs. After all, he has to answer to God in the end. There are lots of good jews, but the ones that agree with this war learned well from Hitler how to cleanse a population out of arrogance. I thank the good jews that are out there, may God watch over them.

Hamas must stop shooting missels, period. Israel has the right to defend itself. Get some common sence. Why don’t the Palistinneans kick Hamas out, or turn them in? The only way the war will stop is Hamas must stop launching rocket but to Isreal.They must live in harmony with their neighbors.Rocketing of Israel is not an answer to what ever problem they have.They must stop.

Where oh where is that soild calf oh Israel

In more than 60 plus years many cows sent,
as over here produced what was sent over there,
can not produce nor have they found a once Treasure that came with the calf,
for had they kept Wisdom,
they would have, what they have not presently,
