Chinese child-virus death toll rises
Israel News.Net Friday 9th May, 2008
The Chinese Health Ministry has revealed two more children have died of hand-foot-mouth disease, driving the national death toll to 34.
Health authorities in east China's Anhui Province have confirmed the two children had died of HFMD triggered by the potentially lethal enter virus 71.
The Anhui Provincial Health Department has said a 14 month old boy fell ill on May 1st but died on Monday.
An 11 month old girl was reportedly admitted to Hospital on Monday when her condition deteriorated. She died early on Wednesday.
The ministry, on its website, has said the majority of the serious cases had been cured.
HFMD is caused by intestinal viruses, which manifest in a slight fever followed by blisters and ulcers in the mouth and rashes on the hands and feet.
The disease can also lead to meningitis, encephalitis, pulmonary edema and paralysis in some children. There is no vaccine.
So far 24,934 children have been diagnosed with the disease on the Chinese mainland.

Education is a powerful Solution
Health education is a key element to help the poor living a simple life. As the population continues to grow around the planet, everyone must invest into helping understand the nature of the problem and devise ways to improve living standards. Nature has a way of healing itself and us humans are at plague proportions. If we do not love one another, when Nature takes control, NOBODY is safe

Toll Rises.
This story is worrying. They say just a handful of children dead. Yes its a big country. The chinese Gov has a big job. Knowing how secretive that Gov can be one has to think if its really a new virus. Heaven help us all if its not. 25,000 children with disease so far. Heads up.

Poor children. Obviously the “motherland” is too busy trying to make itself look good with the olympics, to care about the welfare of these children.

RE: Hands away
You seem to have forgotten theres 1.3 billion people in China that the government has to look after. Anyway, look at the US, they spent %500 billion waging war in Iraq, but theres still plenty of people in the US who could be better off, its not like nobody in the US dies of disease either. And you’ve clearly missed the bit where it says “there is no vaccine”.

RE: Hands away
Your mouth must be as constantly dirty as both your hands to spew such venomous poison. Your motherland must be really pathetic to breed children like you.

The only solution, is free healthcare for all world-wide
Yes, all nations should provide free health care for their citizens, already there are a lot of countries that are humane and have free health care for all their citizens, as well as their guests to their country.
It is a disgrace, and a shame, that large countries who are so called super powers, and spend billions, and billions of Dollars for their military equipment, and technological research, which is based to improve their military power, rather than spend that same money to preserve human lives, and benefit humanity.
There are countries that have achieved their standard of longevity by preserving human lives and caring for their aged, and at the same time creating employment in the medical field, rather than being militarily oriented and creating jobs in the military field, which carries the destruction of humanity.
I do believe that nations, should change their way of thinking, and work to be constructive to humanity, rather than being destructive, and vindictive towards one another, if we all want to survive in this beautiful planet of ours.
There is room for all of us to enjoy its fruits, through co-operation, and understanding one another in a peaceful manner.

Nice Idea Sammy... , and, ...
... , Cuba began such a program some years ago! They have sent medical help to numerous countries! Venezuela has joined Cuba in the efforts!
How the US has been doing whatever it can to put an end to such 'humanitarianisms'!
Numerous countries are accepting, but few are 'contributing' in fear of US REPRISALS, i.e., being declared a Terrorist State!
So if the US POSITION IS TRUE(?), to help the poor is to be a Terrorist!
To count your shekels is to be godlike!

In the health field there is a lot of speculation, and money to be made, especially with the health plans which one can purchase to obtain a certain amount of benefit which is limited to the type of insurance policy and its clauses.
But if each government would guarantee free health service, to the full sense of the word, free doctor of your choice, free hospital, free medicine, free anylisis, all these as the basic fundamentals for each human being.
But then on the other-hand we always have people that are never satisfied and would want their private hospital, private doctor, private analysis, as well as expensive medicines, which would not be covered by the free health care system, then these people should have their freedom of choice to purchase their health insurance, and select their specialist of their choice, but if they do not choose to subscribe to the private health care, they can always be assured of a free health care that their government provides for all.
This would not be socialized medicine under a regeme, because it leaves the medical profession free to practice for those who are always looking for a better service using their insurance health policy or their hard earned money to try an buy health, because some people generally think that when something is free it is of a low caliber, but this is not true and it can be debateable with a lot of pros and cons, that can last a lifetime to determine its validity.
I know, because I have been treated by free health care, and it has not cost me any money, and the service is of high caliber, because people are always on the alert to keep this free medical service working with efficientcy, even though the private medical sector tries at times in many way to sabotage it for their economic purposes, by creating scandals, or political mis-management, to try and make it less efficient, so that people select to go to private clinics to be cured.
